“Guys tend to be generous in giving tips when they are with their girlfriends.”
“People tend to die more at times that are financially more advantageous to them.”
“Does your name affect your personality?”
“Lovers tend to lose count of time when they are with their beloved!”
Ever wondered there is a science which seeks answers to all these odder questions. It’s quirkology and this scientific discipline considers the above mentioned questions seriously. “The studies under quirkology are well-founded and soundly evaluated in statistical terms”, claims quirkologist Richard Wiseman who has conducted various studies which come under the purview of quirkology. As per a research of Wiseman, parents treat their babies born between March and August differently than those born between September and February. The reason can be attributed to affect of summer and winter seasons on the behavioral aspects of parents.
Names are another research field that interests the quirkologists. An empirical investigation suggests that names also influence the choice of marriage partners. People tend to marry someone whose name begins with the same letter as their own, whose surnames match theirs, whose name sounds rhyming to their name or is somewhat similar to their name. So as per this research, I tend to marry a girl whose name is “Shalini”, or whose surname starts with “Jain” or whose name begins with letter “S” (sounds indicative :)).
(I thank Reader’s Digest for acquainting me with this funny science through their July 2009 issue.)
